Fett's Boots

Fett's Festive Fest - as featured on DJ BC's Santastic project

.....After the success of his two Halloween CDs, DJ BC has now turned his hand to the Xmas mash-up, and here's my contribution, in the spirit of my Halloween Fest's - The Simpsons lay waste to Cake's Short Skirt, Long Jacket, with a little help from C3PO.....

The Raven - as featured on DJ BC's Son of Monster Mash-Up project

.....Christopher Walken's masterful interpretation of Poe's classic tale, set to Nine Inch Nails's The Great Collapse.....

Fett's Fright Fest II - Halloween 2005 - as featured on DJ BC's Son of Monster Mash-Up project

Skank Like Me - Adina Howard (Freak Like Me) vs Horny Toad (Shiver)

.....Adina is always a pleasure to work with or listen to, so here's (finally) my take on Freak Like Me, ska stylee.....

For The Love of Changes - O'Jays / BulletBoys (For The Love of Money) vs Tupac (Changes)

.....A mashup created especially for my set at DJ BC and Lenlow's Mash Ave (Boston's finest night out!), this takes the classic O'Jays tune and mixes in a little of the BulletBoys' cover, all topped off nicely with a Tupac pella. Laid back, groovesome stuff.....

Superminted - Supermint (Haircut) vs All Saints (Pure Shores) vs Dan Reed Network (Get To You / Rock You All Night Long) vs Cast (Sandstorm)

.....A seamless blending of some lesser used samples and loops, this got some very positive reviews and is another leap forward in terms of where I'm heading with my production skills. It grooves, ir rocks, so grab it now.....

Girls & Clock Things - Ton Loc (Wild Thing) vs Blur (Girls & Boys) vs Coldplay (Clocks)

.....My first CDX number 1, this is a classic a+b+c giving Tone Loc's 80s floor filler an extreme makeover courtesy of Blur and Coldplay. This has gone down extremely well among the GYBO community and may just be my best work yet......

1 Thing, Laura - Amerie (1 Thing) vs Scissor Sisters (Laura)

.....Maybe the most annoying vocal this year, but strip Amerie's cat-strangled waillings out and you're left with a nice instrumental that sounds perfect for Jake Shears's vocals......

Kylie's Photograph - Kylie (Slow) vs Gary Numan (Photograph)

.....a bit of a chance of pace for me here, mixing Kylie's Slow with an old Gary Numan b-side to produce what www.arjanwrites.com called "a gorgeous track with piano and strings". (Always nice to know someone appreciates what you do.) Enjoy......

Don't Call Me Beastie - Madison Avenue (Don't Call Me Baby) vs The Beastie Boys (No Sleep Til Brooklyn)

.....Kerry King's awesome Beastie Boys riff plays host to Madison Avenue's vox - described on GYBO as 'full on', and with good cause......

Sonne Demons - Fatboy Slim / Macy Gray (Demons) vs Rammstein (Sonne)

.....Another outing for the Macy pella, this time with insane German metallists Rammstein......

I Hope You Demons Die - Fatboy Slim / Macy Gray (Demons) vs Bloodhound Gang (I Hope You Die)

.....A former Strangely Familiar exclusive track. Now available for download here......

Up and Down in 1999 - Scent (Up and Down) vs Prince (1999)

.....The Scent tune had been going round and round in my head, and the Prince pella fit sooooo nicely with it......

Tweet Runs With Scissors - Tweet (Oops, Oh My) vs Scissor Sisters (Take Your Mama)

.....One of those wonderful accidents that happen occasionally, with a few synths by yours truly. Big props to DjJayR for the name after hearing a rough mix.....

Justin's Mad World - Justin Timberlake (Like I Love You) vs Tears For Fears (Mad World)

.....It may be a much used pella, but it's a good 'un and sounds fantastic smashed into Tears For Fears' classic tune. Try it, you won't be disappointed.....

Barbarism Begins With Noise - The Smiths vs Public Enemy

.....The Smiths' classic funk workout married to the incendiary vocals of Public Enemy - a dancefloor filler from London to Los Angeles.....

7 Black Days - Craig David vs ACDC vs DuranDuran vs Public Enemy

.....Craig David's remixed pella of 7 Days stretched over a tasty framework of Duran's Save A Prayer, PE's Security Of The First World and ACDC's Back In Black. My best boot yet.....

Girls On Madge - DuranDuran (Girls On Film) vs Madonna (Music)

.....Duran's classic ode to celluloid sauciness mixed with the Queen of Sauce herself. A cheeky little number.....

Don't You Want Me, Sophie? - Sophie Ellis-Bextor (Mixed Up World) vs Human League (Don't You Want Me)

.....take 1 part Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 1 part Human League, add a dash of KC & The Sunshine Band, mix for just over 4 minutes and serve chilled.....

Freaky Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang (The Bad Touch) vs Blo Up Doll (Freaky Sounds Coming Out Of My Head)

.....Fettdog does Blo Up Doll! The excellent Freaky Sounds mashed into the Bloodhoud Gang's synth-rock romp.....

Nine Inch NERD - Nine Inch Nails (Ringfinger) vs N.E.R.D. (Lapdance)

.....A fusion of N.E.R.D.'s Lapdance with a Fettdog-remixed version of NIN's Ringfinger. A 122bpm slice of industrial pop!

Dead Satisfaction - Benny Benassi (Satisfaction) vs Covenant (Dead Stars)

.....Benassi's oh-so-suggestive vocals over the dark brooding driving synthpop of Covenant.....

Don't Tell Me 7 Days - Madonna (Don't Tell Me) vs Craig David (7 Days - remix)

.....Craig David freestyling over Madonna - these two tracks were born to do it! A summer breeze of a boot!

Alf's Imagination - Yazoo (Don't Go) vs Belouis Some (Imagination)

.....One for the 80s lovers (as in the decade, not the octagenarian fanciers among you!) Alison Moyet takes on Belouis Some (and wins!)

Catch In Black - Kosheen (Catch) vs AC/DC (Back In Black)

.....A good dependable riff, a strong vocal and a dash of Fettdog's special sauce!

Dead Or Dannii - Dannii Minogue (I Begin To Wonder) vs Dead Or Alive (You Spin Me Round)

.....This was actually my first stab at mixing two tracks together.
I attempted this by cutting loops from each of the tracks and trying to fit them together, as I hadn't discovered the joys of GYBO and Pellas at this point!

I Feel Moved - The Shamen (Move Any Mountain/Progeny) vs Depeche Mode (I Feel Loved)

.....I'd been playing around with a straight remix of I Feel Loved for a while when I happened to hear Move Any Mountain on the radio. My mind just put the Mode vocals together with the Shamen's backing and voila!
